I like the Marxism topic we’re covering in Mr. Bush’s lesson its interesting and I agree with a lot of it…representation topic is also very interesting with ms Jones, all those discussion and easily remembered rather then just writing things down.

•How well is the course organised? (1): The media studies course is well structured and very organised, I think that the class work given is great and I feel that even though the Media Studies department issues a lot of homework, it is worthwhile as we all do great in our exams in the end.
•How interesting is the content that is covered? (1) : I feel that the content covered is very interesting as we always learn something new that we haven’t come across before e.g. new terminology, theorists etc.
•How useful are the handouts? (1): I find the handouts really useful, especially when it comes down to revision, when we’ve all got something to refer back to before our exams.
•Have the lessons been well-paced? (1): The media lessons are paced well as we are going at an average pace; therefore it is so much easier to take information in.
•What is the standard of the teachers’ presentation/subject knowledge?(1): I think that the teachers’ presentation/subject knowledge is great, I feel that I probably learnt more from them than actually some of the handouts we are given, as they give us key things that we should know for both the coursework and for the exam.

Well in one of the lessons we have just been doing presentations, so i hope we dont fall behind, however the weekly hwk tasks keep us on track.

Havent really got to anything that interesting, but i know that the topics we're covering are really good eg women and asians. So im guessing there will be alot of debates which should be interesting.

What handouts.. haha we've got quite alot from Ms jones which are very useful.

Not the lessons with the presentations, we've been doing the same thing the whole half term. Ms jones are good in the sense that we've covered quite a few topics.

Ms Jones is very good with her standard of knowledge, i can tell she has some strong opinions on certain issues, eg celeb magazines. Just been doing presentations in Mr Bushs lessons so i cant really say, but i guess hes good at his synoptic points.

I had high expectations of the course, and at the moment i am abit disappointed.

Awards evening was a good laugh i guess, nice to dress up. Uhm the film was okay.. i guess it fits into our topic of representation of women so that would be relevant.

the course is quite educational in the sense as it actually mkaes us more independant. it somethign which we have to do alone and which helps us learn how to find specific things. so its quite educational in the fact that it educates us in how to research efficently.

hmmmm i think its boring man, no offense i really do belive it could be made to be entertaining as well as educational. theres not much interlectuallity or relationship with the work we do. there needs to be something which motivates us apart from phone calls homes and threats about getting causes of concern.

i have to admit the hand outs are really valuable and important. the media dictionary is so wicked man, it really does open your mind and eduacate you about the certian terminologies which i didnt know about.

i am so angry and hurt by the fact that teachers think we can do everything in a short period of time. i respect the fact that we may have a small period of time but come on man, we have so much going on, everything with ucas, i mean we need a break aswell. all of us are genuinly trying really hard to meet all the deadlines but the fact is we are getting homework every lesson, as in every lesson is a dealine for homework. maybe it is just me, but hey this evaluation is to give you the perspective of a student, and this is how i feel.

i actually do think the teachers presentations are really helpful and educational. they enable us to interact more so we actually enjoy being taught.

its more intense that i expected, i must say. but i have to say it is so boring, however educational and a development of a new skill, to be able to research specifically. there needs to be something done to it so we can iteract more and enjoy learning though.

i personally think when it comes to organising events or outings, media rocks!!!
i mean the trip to the cinema, it might have been so simple but it feels so rewarding. its something which motivates you and it really does add the finishing touch to media.
as far as the media awards is concenrened, i to do reckon its a fantastic idea, and its something which makes everyone appreciate media abit more. before i took media i could look at movies and see a plain movie, however now its become a natural insticnt to annotate a movie theoretically. as soon as i see a movie im easily able to identify certain techniques, effects and lightings which just make me uncover the media in a more wider context. it allows me to interpertate independantly.

Don't actually think that we've covered enough to make any sort of judgment on how interesting the content is in Med 5 work besides from our independent work. The information on audience theory is interesting in Mrs Jones' lessons though.

- Spot on for the handouts that we get.. especially the ones we've received from Mrs Jone's... information on audience theory is summarized clearly and in an easy to understand way.

i think the course is well organised, mainly we have powerpoint presentations done by students which will help us when writing the c/w and doing our research.

the content is well covered, because we can cover a topic in one lesson adn gives us the cahnce to test our knowldege such as in med6.

the teachers's presentation of the topics is clear and understandable especially when we get to do interactive activities, but sometimes the topic is presented just by reading booklets which is also helping us understand but i prefer it presented as a powerpoint presentation because it will help us understand better,and amke the topic more interesting but overall the presentation is good.

2 - It’s quite interesting, although we haven’t actually covered that much. Most lessons we don’t actually do any work. The presentations are taking long enough.

1 – They’re very detailed, and full of information.

3 – Not at all, we’ve made a slow start to the year, which is mostly because of the presentations. Additionally Mr. Bush has had to sort out other teacher’s students, most teachers can usually prevent students from messing about if they actually pay attention to the class in the first place. At times, some teachers are daydreaming and well I have no idea how they don’t see students doing stupid things.

• Attainment – 3 ..it’s okay
• Effort – 3 I think my effort could be a little better this year but I don’t think I’m doing too badly… =) .. But as I know what im doing on my blog and know what I have to achieve I believe I will do good from now on.
• Punctuality – 2- my punctuality has not been too bad im always on time :) and I haven’t missed any lessons’
• Submission and quality of homework – 3- my submission of assignments have not been bad as I’m always doing my work and often getting it in on time. I think the quality of my work could be better . . . but like I said before I’m getting into the whole idea of being independent so I’ll prove you wrong sir.
• Ability to work independently – 3 – I’m getting the hang of working independently and stepping out of the box a bit more now… I am doing reading research where I have gone to the school library and taken the initiative to gather books that link to my independent study:

• Quality of writing – 3-The quality of writing at the moment is not up to the standards that I would like it to be at. Realistically I’m failing to put my full potential into tasks that I complete but now that I am getting down to things I am willing to put in my full potential.
• Organisation of Media folder –2- media folder is very good sir.
• Oral contributions in class – 3- I could do more but I do try and contribute as much as I can … I think I contribute more than last year!
• Standard of Module 5 blog 3- could be better with all my independent research . . . but it will get better.

Personally I think that the course has been organised well, furthermore it enables you to have enough time study the particular topic.
How interesting is the content that is covered? 1
To me I find the course interesting, due to the fact not only does it cover topics which I enjoy studying but because there will be handouts which will be given out reminding you about the topic studied. Moreover, there is always a lot of interaction such as video clips being shown.

Some of the handouts provided are really useful because they contain useful key points which however there are some tasks and information which are irrelevant.
Have the lessons been well-paced? 2
Some lessons are well paced and all tasks are completed however sometimes there are debates which are all media related which take most of the lesson and some tasks are left unfinished.

The teacher’s presentation/subject knowledge is good this can be shown from the way in which questions are answered in a lot of information enabling the student to fully comprehend what has been asked.

I wouldn’t say that events such as the ‘awards evenings’ are useful it’s just a chance to see your friends do well. However, media trips are useful because I tend to learn a lot from trips which are organised because they are always, related to the topic which is being taught at school, therefore providing you with more information.

The media Macguffin Blog is rather useful by keeping students updated with homework tasks and reminders of events.

Three things i liked and helped me to learn WWW:
.I think the key definition booklets helped me quite a lot this half term and made me think in greater detail about what is relevant to my study.
. The way the course content has been taught has made it both understandable and memorable.
. The SHEP sheet's homework in particular is very useful, as it enabled me to concentrate more on what is really occuring in the media.
Three Suggestions for changes and improvements EBI:
. I think at times that lessons move at a slow pace, and a lot of the time is spent having discussions about irrelevant things. So i think that this is something that needs to be cut down on.
. Occasionally , all that is done during lessons is looking at module 6 blogs which isn't really of any use to most of the class and i think now and then lesson time could be used to do module 6 research.
. I think more media texts can be looked at during lessons that are relevant to everyones studies.

oh, this is late. whooopsssssss
Just read the comments and I found out on friday that BOTH mr bush's class had their pictures taken.Having pictures in a newspaper is not that big but its the fact that our class Mr Munro and Ms Jones class do not even get asked we are media students who deserves the same rewards as the other students. I heard that Mr Bush said he 'could not get in contact with us' well thats just rubbish there are other teachers he could have asked. I am writing this knowning that there will be nothing done as even last year i made a similar complaint in which nothing was done about it. Even though you are not our main teacher you need to think about us and treat us the same as your students in the other classes. I hope we receive an apology wen we get back which again we wont and there will be some excuse as always well something needs to be done because what happened what just wrong i will be happy to talk about this with you in person when we get back to school but i think i have got everything down here
