Coursework: Print draft deadline and filming

The next stage of coursework is delivering draft page designs for the print production.

There are some fantastic coursework projects coming together and the photoshoots over the last week or so have been brilliantly creative and close to the professional standards we are striving for.

Print draft deadline

Your print draft deadline is Friday 15 January

By the end of your double lesson on this day you need to upload a JPEG of your front page, double-page spread feature AND tour poster advert to your Media 2 coursework blog. You will have lesson time between now and then to create these but will need to either work at home or after school in DF06 to meet this deadline.

Adobe Photoshop or InDesign?

We recommend using Adobe Photoshop for the magazine front cover and tour poster and Adobe InDesign for the double-page spread feature. This is because text layout in Photoshop is notoriously difficult. The following tutorial may help introduce you to this software:

Music video filming

We now have a little more idea about how our coursework can develop now that we are out of lockdown and able to meet up with more than one person outdoors. This means filming is more possible along with outdoor photoshoots (with appropriate social distancing of course). Although the next deadline is print, we strongly recommend you use the Christmas break to film your music video while restrictions aren't so bad. You will have the best part of three weeks over Christmas to do this; of course, a rest and a break is vitally important after such a tough term but you should also put a day or two aside to film. Your music video rough cut deadline will be around February half-term which will come around quickly following the print draft deadline.

January PPEs

Your mock exams will start on Monday 25 January and you will have a full Media Paper One and Media Paper 2 - both two hours in length. This will test the entire course you have learned so far which is 16 CSPs along with all terminology and theory. The only topic that will NOT come up is Newspapers as we have not studied it yet. We understand you will want to focus on exams at that time so while you will be able to work on coursework on days you do not have exams we will make sure there are no coursework deadlines during the PPEs.

Good luck and let's develop some outstanding print and video productions!
